KANSAS CITY, Kan.-The Kansas City T-Bones announced that the club has signed first baseman Kyle Petty and traded IF/DH Chase McDonald to Sussex County of the Can-Am League. Petty will be on the active roster tonight when the T-Bones take on the Sioux City Explores in the first game of a four game series.

Kyle Petty opened this season at AA Arkansas in the Texas League and joins the T-Bones, after spending parts of five seasons with the Seattle Mariners organization. He was the Mariners 23^rd round pick in the 2013 June draft out of California University of Pennsylvania. In limited action this season, Petty hit .252 in 34 games with 14 RBIs.

In 2016, Petty opened the year at AA Jackson in the Southern League playing in 37 games hitting .194. He spent most of the year at High A Bakersfield in the California League, where he hit 14 homeruns and drove in 62 runs for the Blaze. Petty was tied for the team lead in homeruns with current T-Bones right fielder Chantz Mack and was third on the club in RBIs. His first year at High A, he launched nine long balls with 46 RBIs for Bakersfield in 2015. Both totals where good for third on the club while hitting .255 in 96 games.

Petty played the winter season of 2015-2016 for the Adelaide Bite in the Australian Baseball League. He hit .292 while leading the league in homeruns with 13 in 47 games with 36 RBI. Petty’s efforts helped lead Adelaide to the Championship Series where the club finished runners up.

In 2014, Petty hit .251 at short season A with Everett in the Northwest League with two homers and 23 RBIs. His first season with the Seattle organization, Perry split time between Everett and the Arizona Mariners in the Arizona Rookie League. He would hit a pair of homeruns at each stop with a .349 clip in 22 games in Arizona and knocked in 12 runs while hitting .264 at Everett.

While in college, Petty was a consensus Division II All-American and a national finalist for the Tino Martinez Award as a senior at California University of Pennsylvania. Petty became the first California player to be drafted since 1995 when Seattle called his name with the 11^th pick in the 23^rd round in 2013. He was selected the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Daktronics Atlantic Region Player of the Year and was the consensus All-Atlantic Region First-Team selection at catcher. Petty hails from a Phillipsburg, New Jersey.

To make room for Petty the club has traded first baseman/designated hitter Chase McDonald to Sussex County of the Can-Am League for cash and a player to be named after the 2017 season. McDonald, a Greenville, North Carolina native played in 29 games for Kansas City with four homeruns and 15 RBIs this season.
