Winnipeg 12, T-Bones 4

06/14/2003 9:57 AM - KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Nate Sevier struggled for the second straight outing as the T-Bones fell to the Goldeyes of Winnipeg 12-4. Rusty Keith was the offensive star for Winnipeg as he had two hits and four RBI by the third inning. His single in the second inning scored the first run and his three run homerun in the third put Winnipeg ahead 7-0. The homerun was Keith’s first of the year.

The T-Bones offense did not get a runner on base until the fourth inning. Rick Prieto, Taber Maier, and Ray Brown all singled to begin that inning. Brown’s single drove Prieto home with the T-Bones’ first run, cutting the lead to 10-1.

Chad Ehrnsberger’s lead-off double in the seventh inning put him ahead of teammate Rick Prieto for the league lead in extra-base hits. Ehrnsberger sits at the top with 12 extra-base hits and has Prieto on his heels at 11. Ehrnsberger would later score on Chris LePine’s single to make the score 11-2.

Sean Murphy continued his hot streak at the plate by going two for four. One of those hits capped Kansas City’s scoring for the evening as Murphy sent a line drive into the right field corner for a two-RBI double. Over his last three games Murphy is batting .500 (seven for fourteen) with four RBI.

Nate Sevier (2-3) gave up eight earned runs for the second straight outing as he only lasted two outs into the third inning. It was Sevier’s shortest outing of the season, beating his last appearance against Fargo. Heath McMurray (2-1) picked up his second victory of the season by going seven innings while allowing three earned runs.

The T-Bones have an off-day tomorrow and then travel to Sioux Falls for their first meeting against the Canaries. Local star Jonathan Krysa takes the mound looking to continue a solid season that has his ERA third in the league at 1.52. The T-Bones next home game will be June 23 versus the Joliet Jackhammers.
