T-Bones Correa sold to Rockies

SIOUX FALLS, SD – The Kansas City T-Bones announced today that catcher Christian Correa has been sold to the Colorado Rockies organization.

Christian Correa, joined Kansas City on May17th after beginning the year with the Houston Astros High A Club Buies Creek in the Carolina League. Correa played in eight games for Kansas City this season, hitting .215 with one home run and five RBIs. His one homer was an inside the park round trip May 30th at Gary SouthShore.

Correa, was a non-drafted free agent for Houston out of Nicholl State University (LA) and spent parts of three season with the Astros before joining the T-Bones. The native of Coconut Creek, Florida hit .203 with the Houston organization with five home runs and 28 RBIs in 106 games.

Behind the plate Correa caught 46% (18 of 39) of base runners in 2016 and caught three this season in 15 attempts for Kansas City. He was the opening night starter for Kansas City going 1-for-2 in his T-Bones debut.

Correa, is the 28th T-Bones player whose contract has been sold to a major-league organization, and fourth since the end of the 2016 season. In October, the Miami Marlins purchased outfielder Dalton Wheat’s contract, and then the Colorado Rockies purchased pitcher David Holman’s contract in December. In February, left-handed pitcher Mike Kickham was sold to the Miami Marlins.

The T-Bones conclude a 10-game road trip Sunday afternoon at Sioux Falls at 4:05pm and return home for a six game home stand starting Monday June 5th at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Hear all the action on the T-Bones Broadcast Network online at tbonesbaseball.com.
