KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The Kansas City T-Bones have announced that they will be honoring the Kansas Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities (RBI) program at Sunday’s game against the Winnipeg Goldeyes at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

The Kansas RBI (formerly known as KCK RBI) teams will have a pregame parade around the warning track, and former T-Bones player and KCK RBI player Eric Vega will be throwing a first pitch.

“Kansas RBI is proud to partner with the Kansas City T-Bones to give the youth in our program an opportunity to attend a professional baseball game in a professional atmosphere in hopes of developing professional citizens on and off the field,” said Cle Ross, the executive director of the Kansas RBI program.

The league, which started in 2009, currently has 1,100 players with 59 teams ranging in age from 3-18. Since the league began in 2009, it has provided baseball and softball opportunities for more than 4,000 boys and girls in the inner city.

In 2015, the former Wyandotte County 3&2 field underwent a $1.4-million dollar renovation to bring an all-turf playing field into the middle of Wyandotte County, and it was renamed the Barton-Ross Complex.

“To me, it’s exciting to see RBI, which is KC-based, and our own Kansas City T-Bones working together to help young children realize their potential,” said Unified Government Commissioner Dr. Jane Winkler-Philbrook.

“I applaud the program and its commitment to instilling great values and work ethic in our community’s youth through the love of baseball,” said T-Bones president Adam Ehlert. “We’re proud to support it.”
