KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The American Association has announced that T-Bones second baseman Brett Wiley is the league’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending July 10.

Wiley went 13 for 23 (.565) with three doubles, one triple, two home runs, 15 RBIs and seven runs in the last seven games. Additionally, in that stretch, Wiley’s average rose from .286 to .322.

Wiley, who spent the 2015 season at three levels in the St. Louis Cardinals’ system — single-A Palm Beach, double-A Springfield and triple-A Memphis, had eight multi-hit games during a nine-game hitting streak that ended Saturday night. Incidentally, he had only five games with more than one hit in his first 34 games of the season, leading up to June 30, when the nine-game streak started.

As the T-Bones get set for game number 50 on Monday night, Wiley is currently first on the team in average (among players with at least 25 games), tied for second in hits (47), tied for second in doubles (11) and second in RBIs (26).

Wiley is the first T-Bones player to receive the league’s player of the week honor this season. The previous was Nate Tenbrink, who got it on Aug. 31, 2015.

The T-Bones start a 10-game, three-city roadtrip Monday night at Laredo. They return home on Friday, July 22.
