Wiley Propels T-Bones to Series Win

SIOUX FALLS, SD. – The Kansas City T-Bones squeaked by Sioux Falls Tuesday night at The Birdcage, in a 9-7 final.

The T-Bones fell behind 2-0 in first inning, but finished the game with five runs in the last three frames. Down 2-0, in the second inning, Dalton Wheat reached on a fielders choice and Vladimir Frias scored, pulling Kansas City within a 2-1 score. In the third inning, the T-Bones tied the game at 2-2, when Starlin Rodriguez scored on a wild pitch.

The T-Bones took the lead in the fourth inning, as Brett Wiley homered for the second consecutive game, and brought Brandon Tierney around the bases with him, giving Kansas City a 4-3 lead.

The T-Bones and Canaries exchanged runs all the way until the ninth inning, when Wiley again, launched a two-run double over Ethan Chapman's head in center field. Wiley finished the game with four RBI, and has seven RBI in the first two games of the series.

Kansas City starting pitcher Jordan Cooper didnt factor into the decision, but pitched six innings and allowed just two earned runs.

T-Bones reliever Evan DeLuca (1-1) allowed three runs in the eighth inning, but his offense picked him up, and he picked up the win.

Righty reliever Johnny Shuttlesworth picked up his first save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning for Kansas City.

Canaries reliever Madison Boer (0-3) took the loss.

The T-Bones have won three consecutive series, and look for their first sweep of the season Wednesday evening. 

The T-Bones (20-25) wrap-up the three-game series with Sioux Falls (15-28) Wednesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm, with the action available online at Tbonesbaseball.com.
