KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones announced they have signed Anthony Gallas to a contract for the 2016 season.

Gallas, 28 (12-14-87), is a 6-foot-2 and 210-pound outfielder from Strongsville, Ohio. He has spent the first six-plus years of his professional career in the Cleveland Indians organization. In 2015, Gallas split time between double-A Akron and triple-A Columbus, batting a combined .250 with 111 hits, including 27 doubles, three triples and 17 home runs. He had 55 RBIs and scored 46 runs.

“I have known about Anthony Gallas since his high school days when he was recruited at Kent State,” said T-Bones manager John Massarelli, who’s also an Ohio native. “I actually tried to sign him to the (Lake Erie Crushers of the Frontier League) out of college before the Indians offered him a contract. One word describes why I like Anthony Gallas: gamer.”

Gallas, who started this season at double-A Akron, is a career .262 hitter with 512 hits, 143 doubles, 60 home runs, 259 RBIs and 236 runs scored in 531 games.

Additionally, the T-Bones placed infielder Jimmy Mojica and outfielder Kyle Robinson on irrevocable waivers for the purpose of giving them their unconditional release.

The T-Bones open the 2016 exhibition season on Monday against the Lee’s Summit Monarchs, and then the regular season at home on May 19 against Texas.
