KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones announced they have signed infielder Brett Wiley to a contract for the 2016 season.

Wiley, 24 (11-24-91), who’s 5-foot-10 and 175 pounds from Huntington, Ind., spent the 2015 season at three levels in the St. Louis Cardinals’ system — single-A Palm Beach, double-A Springfield and triple-A Memphis. In 99 games, Wiley batted .230 with 76 hits, including 20 doubles and two triples. He had 32 RBIs and scored 36 runs. (Wiley played one game for Memphis, going 1 for 3 with a run scored.) Although he played 10 single-A games at third base, the bulk of Wiley’s time defensively was spent at second base, where he had a .976 fielding percentage with 109 putouts, 173 assists and seven errors in 289 chances.

The Cardinals selected Wiley in the 13th round of the 2012 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Jefferson College in Hillsboro, Mo. In four professional seasons, Wiley is a .273 hitter with 211 hits, 104 RBIs and 100 runs scored. In 139 professional games at second base, Wiley has a .971 fielding percentage.

Wiley is the 23rd player signed by Kansas City for 2016.

The T-Bones open the 2016 regular season at home on May 19 against Texas.
