T-Bones sign former D-Backs' farmhand

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones announced they have signed pitcher Johnny Shuttlesworth to a contract for the 2016 season.

Shuttlesworth, 26 (09-30-89), who’s 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds, is a right hander from Tuscaloosa, Ala. He split time in 2015 between high-A Visalia and double-A Mobile in the Arizona Diamondbacks’ system, going a combined 3-4 with a 5.06 ERA in 33 games (three starts). In 53 1/3 innings last season, Shuttlesworth gave up 35 runs (30 earned), while striking out 51 and walking 12.

The Diamondbacks selected Shuttlesworth in the 28th round of the 2013 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Faulkner University. In three professional seasons, Shuttlesworth is 8-8 with a 3.83 ERA. In 124 2/3 innings he has 113 strikeouts and 31 walks.  

Shuttlesworth is the 22nd player — 11th pitcher — signed by Kansas City for 2016.
