KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones announced that the Toronto Blue Jays have purchased the contract of pitcher Bobby Doran.

Doran is a 6-foot-6 and 235-pound right hander from Flower Mound, Texas. In 2015, his first season with Kansas City, Doran led T-Bones pitchers in wins (8), starts (20), innings pitched (113 2/3) and strikeouts (71). The Houston Astros selected Doran (pronounced Dur-an) in the fourth round of the 2010 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Texas Tech University. In 2014, he split time in triple-A with Houston and the Chicago White Sox, going 7-6 with a 5.43 ERA in 30 appearances.

“We’re happy for Bobby to get back to affiliated baseball,” said T-Bones manager John Massarelli. “We look forward to keeping track of him with the Blue Jays’ organization.”

Doran has a six-year career record of 45-28 with a 4.81 ERA, 444 strikeouts and 228 walks in 673 1/3 innings. Overall at the triple-A level, Doran is 10-6 with a 5.07 ERA, and he’s 14-4 with a 3.83 ERA in double-A.

“We wish Bobby the best with the Blue Jays,” said T-Bones vice-president and general manager Chris Browne. “This is a great credit not only to manager John Massarelli but also to our pitching coach Bill Sobbe. It’s always a proud day for the T-Bones and our fans to see another one of our players make the jump to a major-league organization.”

Doran is the 25th T-Bones player whose contract has been sold to a major-league organization. Last offseason, the Los Angeles Dodgers purchased catcher Chris Bianchi’s contract and the Kansas City Royals purchased pitcher Derek Gordon’s contract.
