06/11/2003 9:53 AM - KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The T-Bones hopes to salvage a game from the first place Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks were thwarted by a masterful pitching performance by Fargo starting pitcher Jodie Kennedy (3-1). Kennedy recorded the second shutout in the league this season and the first nine-inning shutout. T-Bones starter Nate Sevier notched a shutout in a shortened seven inning game against Gary earlier this year.

T-Bones starter Jonathan Krysa (2-2) entered the game with the league’s third best ERA at 0.42. He looked as though he would preserve his pristine ERA early on as he got out of a bases loaded jam with nobody out in the second. He got catcher Jeff Goldbach to line into a double play and then induced an inning ending flyout by Brian Ward.

Krysa would not be so lucky in the fourth. After scratching out a run in the third, Eddie Gerald led off the Fargo fourth with a triple to left-center field. Jeff Goldbach immediately followed with an RBI double to put the Redhawks ahead 2-0. Krysa got another double play to end the inning, but not after Fargo extended their lead to 5-0.

After the fourth, Krysa settled down and showed why he is one of the premier pitchers in the league. When many other pitchers might get rattled, Krysa buckled down to pitch four more scoreless innings. He left after eight innings having given up five runs, four of them earned.

Rick Prieto led the T-Bones offense with two hits. His first inning single was followed by another single by Taber Maier, but Kansas City could not find a way to get a run across. By the end of the game the T-Bones had left eight on base, proving that the breaks just were not going their way.

Wascar Serrano takes the mound tomorrow night against the Winnipeg Goldeyes looking to get his second win of the season. Serrano picked up his first win in his last start against Sioux City, in the T-Bones 7-6 victory. The game will start at 7:05p.m.
