T-Bones Swept in Sioux City

SIOUX CITY, IA – The Kansas City T-Bones, dropped both seven inning games Monday night, 1-0 and 3-2, to Sioux City, at Lewis and Clark Park.

Kansas City in game one, turned to starting pitcher Bobby Doran (8-4) who pitched the complete game, and allowed just one run to take the tough loss. Doran was charged with a wild pitch in the third inning, that allowed Matty Johnson to score for Sioux City, capping the scoring at 1-0. Doran allowed just four hits and struck out four.

The T-Bones could muster only two hits off starting pitcher Eric Wordekemper (5-2). Wordekemper pitched five and one third innings, and struck out four.

Starlin Rodriguez and Jake Blackwood both singled in the 1-0 game one loss.

In game two, Josh Tols got the start for Kansas City. In his first professional start, Tols went four inning and allowed just one hit and struck out five and left with a 2-0 lead.

The T-Bones got RBI's from Vladimir Frias and Sergio Leon, off Sioux City starting pitcher Patrick Johnson (12-1). Johnson pitched all seven innings, and allowed just five hits and struck out six on 124 pitches.

Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Sioux City scored a run off Fernando Hernandez (3-7) courtesy of a wild pitch to score Ryan Court to pull the game within 2-1.

Sioux City pulled off the rally in the bottom of the seventh inning, as Hernandez allowed two runs to score on three hits and one walk. Noah Perio drove in the winning run with a single, to score Brent Keys, who tied the game with his RBI single to left.

The T-Bones end the seven game road trip with a 2-5 record, and return to CommunityAmerica Ballpark one game back of Joplin for the wild card lead.
