05/15/2015 10:57 PM - The Kansas City T-Bones on Friday night dropped the first game of a three-game series against the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 2-1, at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
The T-Bones struck first in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI single from Nate Tenbrink that scored Jake Blackwood from second base and gave the T-Bones an early 1-0 lead.
T-Bones starting pitcher Joe Van Meter allowed just one run over five solid innings but didnt factor in the decision.
With the game tied at 1-1, the Goldeyes took the lead in the top of the sixth inning, scoring Adam Heisler on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Josh Mazzola that put Winnipeg up for good 2-1 off T-Bones reliever Garrett Granitz.
The T-Bones threatened in the bottom of the ninth inning off Goldeyes reliever Jailen Peguero with a one-out triple from Blackwood, but were unable to tie the game.
The T-Bones continue the exhibition series with Winnipeg on Saturday evening at 7:05. The season opener kicks off Friday May 22 against Lincoln at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
