With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth Thursday, Vladimir Frias helped give Kansas City a 5-4 win over Joplin in the T-Bones' third exhibition game of the season.

The T-Bones loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the ninth, but a line out by Alex Marquez and a fielder's choice by C.J. Henry left the bags full with two outs. Then Frias, who's become known for his defensive play at shortstop, lined a 1-1 pitch from Titus Pierce into right-center that scored Blake May from third.

Joplin, which took the lead in the second, held it until the sixth. In the bottom of the sixth, the Blasters intentionally walked Nate Tenbrink with James Boddicker on third base and two outs. Joe Rapp proceeded to belt a two-run triple to the right-center gap that gave the T-Bones their first lead at 4-3.

This was Joplin's first-ever game. Yasser Gomez gave the organization its first hit in the top of the first inning against T-Bones starter Casey Barnes.

Kansas City, which is now 2-1 in exhibition games, is scheduled to host Winnipeg for a three-game series beginning Friday night. Tickets are available by calling the Providence Medical Center Box Office at CommunityAmerica Ballpark at 913-328-5618.
