MIAA baseball championship returns

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones are pleased to announce that the MIAA Baseball Championship returns to CommunityAmerica Ballpark beginning Thursday, May 7.

The double-elimination championship tournament will feature the top four teams that advanced from this weekend’s opening-round series, which were played on the college campuses. The top four seeds this week will be: Missouri Southern, Emporia State, Central Missouri and Washburn.

The championship round at CommunityAmerica Ballpark will begin Thursday with Missouri Southern against Washburn Thursday at 11 a.m.; Emporia State against Central Missouri at 2:30 p.m.; and the two losing teams at 6 p.m. Games will be played at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Friday; with the championship game at 11 a.m. on Saturday. If necessary, a final elimination game will be played approximately 30 minutes after that contest.

“We’re thrilled to host the MIAA Championship at our park, specifically, and in Kansas City, Kansas, overall,” said T-Bones vice-president and general manager Chris Browne. “It’s a great brand of baseball and great for the community.”

Gates open one hour prior to the first game of the day. Tickets are $10 for adults per day and $5 for students with a valid I.D. Admission is free for kids 6 and under. Tickets are available by calling the Providence Medical Center Box Office at CommunityAmerica Ballpark at 913-328-5618.
