Ray Brown Slams Way to Player of Week Honors

08/30/2004 1:15 PM - Kansas City first baseman Ray Brown was named Northern League Co-Player of the Week along with Fargo-Moorhead’s Eric Kofler, the league office announced Monday. Brown batted 526 (10-for-19) with two doubles, two home runs, and six RBI in five games last week as the T-Bones went undefeated against Sioux City (4-0) and Lincoln (1-0).

Brown (.370-18-81) singled in Sunday’s game to extend his season-high hitting streak to 16 games – the second longest such streak by any T-Bones player in the two-year history of the Kansas City franchise. Brown is making a strong bid for Northern League MVP as well, with rankings in the top three of seven major categories.

Brown is the NL leader with 33 doubles and a .636 slugging percentage. His .370 batting average is the second-best in the circuit, and his 81 RBI, 52 extra-base hits, .440 on-base percentage, and 124 hits all rank him third in the league.
