T-Bones Take Seventh in Row, 4-3

08/30/2004 1:12 PM - Two home runs, one a two-run shot by Eddie Pearson and the other a solo shot off the bat of Chad Hill, propelled the Kansas City T-Bones to their seventh consecutive win, a 4-3 triumph over the Lincoln Saltdogs in front of 6,529 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, KS.

Pearson started off the scoring for Kansas City with two outs in the first when, after a walk to Ray Brown, he homered to right field, a line shot that barely cleared the fence. Pearson's home run against Lincoln starter Mike Zipser (L, 6-9), his 27th of the season, gave the T-Bones a 2-0 lead over Lincoln, which plated single runs in the second and fourth innings.

Kansas City went ahead for good with a Mike Brown infield single in the bottom of the sixth inning to score Ray Brown, whose single to right extended his hitting streak to six. The lead was extended to 4-2 by Chad Hill's solo shot to left in the eighth, his sixth home run of the season. The two runs made a winner of David Viane for the first time as a T-Bone, as Viane improved to 1-3.

Lincoln got their runs by way of a Jorge Moreno solo homer in the second, his seventh of the season, as well as a P.J. Rose single to right in the fifth to plate Bryan Warner. T-Bone reliever Derek Forbes (S, 3)allowed the third run of the game to Lincoln in the top of the ninth on a Josh Patton RBI single, but Warner grounded into a fielder's choice to end the game.

Notes: Rick Prieto played in the game in spite of a jammed pinky... Kevin Sprague worked 4.2 IP while allowing 2 ER in his first start as a T-Bone... Zipser went 7 IP, allowing 4 ER, in taking the loss... time of the game was 2:35.
