T-Bones Ride Krysa to 3-1 Win

08/21/2004 11:31 AM - LINCOLN, Neb. - Jonathan Krysa threw 162 pitches for the Kansas City T-Bones in recording his ninth win and fourth complete game of the season, and the T-Bones eked out a 3-1 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs in front of 5,549 at Haymarket Park Saturday night.

Phil Thompson's double in the fourth inning started the scoring for the T-Bones, as Mike Brown, who had singled and stolen second, scored. Ray Brown made the lead 2-0 with his sixteenth homer of the season, a solo shot to right in the fifth against Saltdog starter Alex Carbajal.

Lincoln got a run back in the sixth inning when, with runners at the corners, Krysa got a double play grounder from Bryan Warner. JuJu Foreman came in to score on the play, but the T-Bones held Lincoln to that lone run in the frame.

Lincoln had chances in the ballgame, as did the T-Bones. In the first, Josh Patton doubled to left for Lincoln and apparently scored Foreman, who had walked. But the T-Bones appealed the play and Foreman was ruled out for missing third base, and Krysa emerged unscathed. The seventh inning saw Lincoln load the bases as well, but Krysa fanned Todd Santore and Foreman to walk the tightrope once again.

Kansas City got an insurance run in the ninth when Hiroshi Fujimoto's double to left scored Mike Hass, who had reached base on a fielder's choice. Krysa came out for the bottom of the ninth having thrown 151 pitches, but got a 1-2-3 inning to record the win.

Game Notes: Rick Prieto was held hitless, ending his hitting streak at 12... Prieto is still tied for the all-time Northern League run record with 88... Jack Jones was 2-3 with a walk in the No. 9 spot in the order... Cody Nowlin sat out the game after being hit in the head in the first inning of Friday's game, and is day-to-day... Ray Brown's homer extended his hitting streak to 10... Krysa is still atop the Northern League with 120 K's.
