08/10/2004 10:35 AM - ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Kansas City T-Bones left a season-high 15 men on base, and runners in scoring position in every inning except the seventh, in a 6-3 loss to the St. Paul Saints at Midway Stadium Tuesday. The game time temperature was 54 degrees, with a wind chill of 49.

Kansas City got on the board in the top of the first against starter Cesar Martinez when Mike Brown’s fielder’s choice scored Rick Prieto, who had doubled, to make it 1-0. That lead lasted until the bottom of the third inning, when St. Paul tied it on a Justin Hall single to center, scoring Josh Renick. Renick, son of former Minnesota Twin Rick Renick, was 3-for-5 in the game, scoring three runs.

T-Bone starter Jon McDonald allowed four runs to the Saints in the bottom of the fourth inning to bust the game wide open, with three singles and two doubles doing the damage for the Saints. Doubles by Chas Terni and Justin Hall (4-for-5) and singles by Adam Olow and Renick plated the runs.

Mexican League veteran Martinez (3-0) labored through his six innings of work, allowing one unearned run while walking six and striking out five and throwing 122 pitches.

St. Paul scored another against reliever David Viane in the sixth inning, when Nick Gretz’ sac fly scored Renick to make it 6-1. The T-Bones scored two unearned runs in the top of the ninth, but would leave a runner on third to end the game. Kansas City left runners on scoring position in every inning except the seventh.

Wednesday night, the T-Bones will send Greg Bicknell to the hill to face Bryan Gaal in the series finale. It’s a 7:05 start, with the pre-game show beginning at 7:00 on All Comedy Radio 1340 and www.tbonesbaseball.com.
