One of the reason the American Association is one of the strongest minor leagues in the country is because of the dedication of its clubs’ general managers. This week, general managers from the American Association and the Can-Am League have been gathered at CommunityAmerica Ballpark for the annual winter meetings.

Led by Dan Moushon, the president of both leagues, the two-day event is a chance for general managers to share various baseball-related topics as well as marketing ideas in an attempt to continue to strengthen the leagues.

“We are thrilled with the opportunity to host all of the general managers from the two leagues,” said T-Bones vice-president and general manager Chris Browne.

Topics this season include interleague play, trade deadlines and the new division alignment, with Wichita moving to the South. (El Paso will be the new home of the El Paso Chihuahuas, the triple-A farm team for the San Diego Padres. With the Wingnuts moving to the South, the Central division in 2014 will consist of Gary SouthShore, Lincoln, Sioux City and, of course, the T-Bones.)

“I look forward to the meetings each year because it’s great to learn what the other clubs are doing from a marketing standpoint — to see what’s working and not working in other cities — and we have an opportunity to discuss ways to make the leagues better overall,” said Browne.

The meetings, which were last held at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in 2011, conclude Wednesday afternoon.

The T-Bones begin their 2014 campaign at home on May 15 with a four-game series against Lincoln. Full and half-season ticket packages are on sale now for as low as $212.50, with mini-plans starting at $27.00. Single-game tickets will go on sale in March 2014.
