08/02/2004 9:48 AM - KANSAS CITY – Ray Brown and Mike Brown combined for six hits and seven RBI’s as the T-Bones swept the RailCats with an 11-8 win over Gary Monday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. For the surging T-Bones (11-8, 31-36), it was their sixth consecutive victory overall and their 10th win in 11 games against the RailCats this season.

Starting pitcher Greg Bicknell (8-2) won his fourth consecutive start and improved to 5-0 in five starts at CommunityAmerica Ballpark this season despite allowing seven runs – five earned – in seven innings of work. John Howerton picked up his second save as many opportunities with a scoreless ninth inning. Dominic Woody (2-3) was charged with the loss after allowing seven runs on eight hits in 4.1 innings.

Ray Brown broke a 1-all tie in the fifth inning with a two-run double to center field before Mike Brown hammered a three-run home run to gave the T-Bones a five-run cushion. Matt Ceriani capped off the big inning with an RBI-single up the middle to make it 7-1. The RailCats (8-11, 21-46) came back in a flash with a four-run sixth inning but Kansas City pushed its lead back to four with two runs in the home half on run-scoring singles by Ray Brown and Cody Nowlin.

Gary crept closer with to a two-run homer by Rich Rodrigues in the seventh, but Brown drove in his fourth run of the evening in the bottom of the frame with a base hit up the middle that make it 10-7. With a 3-for-4 night at the plate, Brown increased his hitting streak to six games and topped off a torrid four-game series in which he batted .588 (10-17) with eight RBI’s.

The RailCats and T-Bones traded runs in the eighth inning to close out the scoring. The T-Bones will take a day off before hosting a four-game series against Joliet starting Wednesday night at 7:05.

Game Notes: Kansas City’s six-game winning streak is a season high and the longest streak in the two-year history of the franchise… The T-Bones recorded six extra-base hits Monday night and racked up 27 such hits in the four-game series with Gary. Kansas City outscored the RailCats 40-16 during the series… Rick Prieto wasted little time extending his season-best hitting streak to 14 games with a single in the first inning. It is the longest hitting streak by any player on the team this year and the longest by any T-Bones player in the two-year history of the Kansas City franchise… Catcher Matt Ceriani had two hits and homered for the second straight game in the second inning.
