KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The American Association has announced that T-Bones slugger Matt Padgett is the league’s Pointstreak Hitter of the Month for July.

Padgett, who has hit safely in 13 of his last 15 games, hit .402 (41 for 102) with a .516 on-base percentage and .794 slugging percentage, with 13 doubles, nine home runs and 27 RBIs during the month. Additionally, in July he had 13 multi-hit games.

On Tuesday, in Kansas City’s 9-7 win in the second game of a doubleheader against Laredo, Padgett went three for four with a double, a walk-off home run, three RBIs and three runs scored.

“Matt is a game changer every time he comes to the plate,” T-Bones manager Kenny Hook said Thursday. “For me, most impressive this season has been how he gets better in bigger pressure situations. Obviously he had a great month and he’s been consistent all season but it’s incredible to see his focus when there’s more pressure in a particular at-bat.”

For most of the season, Padgett, who’s batting .352 overall (tied for second in the league), has been at or near the top of several league offensive categories. Currently, he’s first in the American Association in slugging percentage (.704), first in on-base percentage (.466), first in extra-base hits (50), first in total bases (178), tied for first in home runs (19), first in doubles (30), second in RBIs (61) and second in walks (55).

Padgett was selected as the Pointstreak Hitter of the Week for July 1-7.
