ST. PAUL, Minn. – For the second straight game, the T-Bones tied the St. Paul Saints in the top of the ninth only to lose in the bottom of the inning, as the Saints won 9-8 Sunday at Midway Stadium.

Kansas City trailed most of the game, but rallied for four runs in the final three innings. In the ninth, the T-Bones tied it at 7-7, when a single by Devin Goodwin scored Kody Hightower. It was the second straight game that Goodwin tied the game in the ninth. On Saturday night, the Saints won 6-5 on a base hit in the bottom of the ninth.

In the bottom of the inning, however, with one out and runners at the corners, Ole Sheldon grounded to Goodwin at short, who flipped to second baseman Felix Molina at second for the inning’s second out, but Sheldon was called safe at first on the throw to Matt Padgett. During the play, Joey Becker, who led off the inning with a triple off Chad Robinson (0-3), scored the game-winning run.

Kansas City took an early lead in the first, when Padgett hit his 14th home run of the season. Padgett went three for five with the homer and two doubles, to go along with two RBIs and three runs scored.

St. Paul took the lead in the bottom of the fourth with three runs. All told, the Saints took advantage of seven hits and three walks given up by Kansas City starter Eric Gonzalez, who went five innings.

Kansas City (17-32) looks to rebound in game three of the four-game series on Monday night at 7:05.
