ST. PAUL, Minn. – After trailing most of the way, Kansas City tied Saturday night’s game at 5-5 with two runs in the seventh and one in the ninth, only to see St. Paul win the contest, 6-5, with an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth at Midway Stadium.

St. Paul jumped on Kansas City starter Lucas Irvine early. The Saints got a two-run home run off the bat of Brad Boyer in the first inning, followed up by another homer, a solo shot from Willie Cabrera, that gave St. Paul a 3-0 lead after the first inning. Irvine and Kansas City spotted St. Paul two more runs during the next two innings.

Down 5-0 in the fifth, Kansas City battled back by getting two runs on a bases loaded single from Kennard Jones. After scoring two more in the seventh, the T-Bones tied the game at 5-5 in the top of the ninth, thanks to an RBI ground-rule double by Devin Goodwin.

The Saints then got three hits in the bottom of the ninth against Kansas City reliever Sean Toler (1-2), including the game-winning RBI single from Adam Frost.

Despite blowing the save chance in the top of the ninth inning, Matt Meyer (5-4) got the win for St. Paul.

Kansas City (17-31) looks to even the four-game series against St. Paul on Sunday afternoon at 1:05.
