Cardiac Kids Come Up Short in 4-3 Loss07/28/2004 9:19 AM - SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - Justin Hendrickson drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning Tuesday night in Schaumburgs 4-3 defeat of Kansas City at Alexian Field. The result erased a pair of rallies by the T-Bones, who trailed 2-1 after six innings and 3-2 heading into the ninth.
Cody Nowlin led off the final frame with a solo shot over the right-field fence for his second homer in four games to tie the game at 3-all. But Geoff McCallum led off the home half with a triple and came around to score on Hendricksons single to left field to end the game. David Viane (0-2) relieved T-Bones starter Jonathan Krysa in the eighth and was charged with the loss. Once again, Krysa pitched well enough to win after allowing two runs on seven hits in seven innings. Brett Weber (6-1), who surrendered Nowlins home run in the top of the ninth, picked up the win in relief of starter Hank Woodman, who pitched eight masterful innings. One night after reaching base five times in six at-bats, cetner fielder Rick Prieto went 4-for-4 with a run scored Tuesday night. He is 7-for-8 in the first two games of this series.
