A day after a record opening night crowd, storms put the cap on a 3-2 Wichita Wingnuts win over the T-Bones in six innings on Sunday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

A line of storms tracking through Kansas led the National Weather Service to issue a recommendation that officials clear the stadium’s fans by 6:30 p.m. At 6:54, the tarp was pulled over the infield and roughly 30 minutes later the umpires declared the game officially over.

Kansas City starter Brian Murphy (0-1) surrendered two runs in the sixth off a Cole Armstrong home run that made the game 3-1. In the bottom half of the inning Ray Sadler drove in Brandon Jones on a double, cutting the deficit to one run. A double play ended the inning moments before the delay.

Down 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning, Jairo Perez homered to left-center, his first of the season.

Wichita starter Junior Guerra (1-0) got the win after pitching all six innings for Wichita.

The T-Bones will get set to play host to Lincoln in a three-game series beginning Monday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05. Tickets are available by calling the Providence Medical Center Box Office at Community America Ballpark at 913-328-5618.
