SIOUX CITY, Iowa-  For a second straight night, the T-Bones pounded out 17 hits, as Kansas City hammered Sioux City, 11-2, in the series finale at Lewis and Clark Park.

On Wednesday night, Kansas City put together 17 hits in a 9-3 win against the Explorers. On Thursday, down 1-0 early, the Kansas City bats came alive in the second inning, scoring three runs on three hits and two Explorers errors. Justin Bass and Trevor Coleman each tallied RBI singles in the inning.

The T-Bones then scored four runs on six hits in the third, sending nine men to the plate. Bass and Kris Sanchez had RBI singles, and Spiker Helms looped a two-out two-run single to left. The four-run explosion pushed Kansas City’s lead to 7-1.

All the while, Josh Rainwater, who gave up the game-winning home run on Tuesday night in a relief appearance, pitched well. After relinquishing a two-out solo homer to Ray Serrano in the third, Rainwater retired seven consecutive Explorers, working perfect fourth and fifth innings. All totaled, Rainwater worked seven innings, allowing just two runs on seven hits. He walked one and struck out four.

Ray Sadler had an impressive night at the plate, going four for five with a double. Bass finished three for five, including a home run in the fifth, and raised his average to .305.

The win gives Kansas City the series win and improves its overall record to 46-44.
