FARGO, N.D. -- After scoring a combined 21 runs on Thursday and Friday, the T-Bones mustered only one run and couldn’t take advantage of Shaun Garceau’s pitching performance in a 3-1 loss to Fargo-Moorhead on Sunday afternoon at Newman Outdoor Field.

Kansas City’s one run came courtesy of rookie switch-hitter Spiker Helms, who launched his first professional homer to right field off of Fargo-Moorhead starter Tyler Herron in the eighth inning. And it came on the heels of scoring only two runs on Saturday night.

Other than that blemish to Helms, Herron was outstanding, allowing only six hits over seven innings. He avoided walking anyone while striking out eight. The right-hander earned the win to improve to 3-3.

T-Bones starter Garceau (5-1) started the game by throwing three perfect frames before the RedHawks got on the scoreboard with two runs on four singles in the bottom of the fourth. Ryan Delgado and Marcos Rodriguez hit back-to-back two-out RBI singles and pushed the RedHawks on top, 2-0.

Garceau pitched an eight-inning complete game for KC, allowing three runs on eight hits with no walks and three strikeouts. The loss is his first in six starts.

Kansas City (27-23) looks ahead to the third game of the series, slated for a 7:02 p.m. first pitch on Monday evening. Tune in to catch the action on the KMBZ Business Channel (1660 AM) or online at www.tbonesbaseball.com.
