T-Bones, Rain Defeat Redhawks, 1-0

07/10/2004 1:21 PM - July 10, 2004

FARGO, N.D. - The Kansas City T-Bones pulled out a 1-0 win over the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks in a game that was called in the seventh inning due to inclement weather Saturday night at Newman Outdoor Field.

The T-Bones got their lone run in the game against Redhawk starter Derek Dormanen in the third inning when Rick Prieto walked with one out. Prieto took off to second base on a hit-and-run when Mike Hass grounded to second baseman Brian Ward. Ward, distracted by Prieto, misplayed the ball and the T-Bones had runners at the corners. Chad Hill then grounded to third baseman Brad Mazer, who forced the runner Hass at second base. Hill was safe at first and Prieto scored on the play.

Hill, who was 0-for-3 in the shortened game, had his streak of seven multi-hit games snapped, as well as his ten-game hitting streak.

Matt McClellan made his first start of the season for the T-Bones, working four scoreless innings while striking out four and allowing just three hits. McClellan gave way to Greg Bicknell, who had been ejected from the series opener Thursday night after working just three innings. Bicknell worked two innings, striking out the side in the fifth inning and allowing just a walk while earning the victory to improve to 4-2. Dormanen took the hard-luck loss, allowing just the unearned run to fall to 0-1.

The T-Bones will take on the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks Sunday at 2:05 pm in the series finale. RHP Phil Thompson (1-2, 6.16) will start for the T-Bones against Fargo-Moorhead RHP Ray Clark (5-1, 3.04). The game will be broadcast live starting at 2:00 on KCKN 1340 All Comedy Radio and www.tbonesbaseball.com.
