EL PASO, Texas - Diablos cleanup hitter Javier Brito lined a double off of the left-center field wall in the bottom of the ninth inning, scoring Nelson Teilon from second, as El Paso successfully erased a five-run deficit and beat Kansas City, 13-12, in walk-off fashion at Cohen Stadium on Wednesday night.

El Paso jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, touching up T-Bones starter Devin Anderson for four runs on four hits and a T-Bones error in the bottom of the second. Nine Diablos hitters came to the plate in the inning, which featured a two-run single by third baseman Jonathan Cisneros.

Kansas City didn’t take long to strike back, scoring three runs on four hits in the top of the third, including a moon shot home run to left field by Bubby Williams, his first of the season. Brandon Jones doubled, driving in Gus Milner later in the inning, trimming El Paso’s lead to 4-3. The T-Bones took the lead back in the fourth at 5-4 on Devin Goodwin’s second homer of the season. The lead would be short-lived.

In the see-saw slugfest, El Paso scored three runs on four hits against Anderson in the bottom of the fourth. Brito roped a two-run triple to right-center and Palmer Karr, Jr. picked up an RBI single that push the Diablos on top, 7-5. Kansas City wasted no time offering a response, sending eleven men to the plate in the top of the fifth, scoring seven runs on five hits and one Diablos error, taking the lead back and extending it to 12-7. Unfortunately, Kansas City pitching couldn’t hold the lead.

The Diablos scored two in the bottom of the fifth, two in the sixth, and one in the eighth as they tied the game, 12-12. That set the stage for Brito, who doubled in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth off Kansas City pitcher Sean Toler, the fourth T-Bones hurler of the game.

Toler (0-1) took the loss, which drops the T-Bones to 7-6 on the season. Overall, however, they finished 5-1 during their first roadtrip of the season, sweeping a three-game series at Grand Prairie and winning two of three at El Paso.

Kansas City’s next game is at home on Friday, June 1, as the T-Bones host the Amarillo Sox for a short three-game homestand. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available by calling the T-Bones box office at 913-328-5618.
