GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas -- It's never ideal to spot the defending American Association champions three runs, especially in their stadium. But that's exactly what Kansas City did against Grand Prairie before coming back for a 4-3 win on Saturday night.

As cleanup hitter Andres Rodriguez was rounding the bases after launching a deep two-run home run to left field in the third inning, it looked as though the T-Bones' opportunity to sweep the three-game series against Grand Prairie, the defending American Association champions, was slipping away. The 400-foot plus home run put Grand Prairie on top 3-0, and KC right-hander Brian Grening looked to be wavering a bit. He allowed four hits in the inning, including the Rodriguez homer.

But, in typical T-Bones fashion of late, Kansas City answered right away. The T-Bones scored three runs on two hits and a costly Yasutsugu Nishimoto fielding error in the top of the fourth, knotting the game at 3-3. Third baseman Devin Goodwin picked up a big RBI single that scored Sean Henry. Trevor Coleman scored on the fielding error by Nishimoto, and catcher Bubby Williams lifted a sacrifice fly that scored Goodwin.

After the offense offered its support, Grening (2-0) cruised through the next four innings.

The T-Bones scored the go-ahead run in the seventh on an RBI double down the left field line by former Olathe North and KU star Gus Milner that scored Reid Fronk.

From that point on, Kansas City’s bullpen dominated. Right-hander Sean Toler worked a scoreless eighth, and then closer Jake Wiley – as he did while getting the save on Friday night – struck out former T-Bones centerfielder Keanon Simon for the final out of the game. It was Wiley’s third save of the season.

The win gave Kansas City (5-5) its first sweep of the season. Sunday is a rare off day for the T-Bones before they begin a three-game series on Monday in El Paso, Texas versus the Diablos.
