KANSAS CITY – Jonathan Krysa continued his dominance over RailCats batters and Chad Hill collected two hits for the fifth consecutive game as the T-Bones defeated Gary, 6-2, Wednesday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. With the win, Kansas City (18-26) won its second home series of the year.

Krysa limited Gary (12-33) to two runs in seven strong innings to pick up his fifth win of the year. With the victory, Krysa improved to 3-0 with an ERA of 1.19 in three career starts against the RailCats. Hill singled in the third and fifth innings and has hit safely in eight straight contests.

Gary starter Brandon Sloan (0-5) lasted just three innings and was tagged with five runs on 10 hits. It could have been worse for Sloan and the RailCats, however, as the T-Bones matched a season high by bouncing into three double plays.

The T-Bones scored a pair of runs in the first inning in an unconventional manner. Chris LePine started it off with a single and moved to second on one of three base hits on the night for Mike Hass. Rick Prieto walked to load the bases for Ray Brown, who followed with a free-pass of his own to push across the first run of the inning. Cody Nowlin hit into a 5-4-3 double play made the score 2-0 in Kansas City’s favor.

The T-Bones added to their lead with two more runs in the third inning. Hass singled through the left side and checked into third base after a double down the left field line by Prieto. Back-to-back ground outs by Matt Ceriani and Nowlin gave Kansas City a four-run cushion after three innings. The T-Bones and RailCats traded runs in the fourth and fifth innings that closed out the scoring. John Howerton and D.J. Johnson pitched the final two innings for Kansas City. The T-Bones will next hit the road for a seven-game road trip starting at Fargo-Moorhead Thursday night at 7:05.

Game Notes: For the second straight night, the T-Bones lost a key cog to their offense. Brown was pulled from the game after colliding with fellow Fujimoto after catching a pop up by Juan Tolentino in foul territory to end the third inning. Designated hitter Eddie Pearson, who missed his first start of the season Wednesday night, was removed from last night’s game with a quadriceps injury… The T-Bones have now lost three starters in the last five days. Regular third baseman Chad Shindle broke his hand last Saturday at Sioux City… The T-Bones took two of three from Gary this week and have won six of seven games against the RailCats on the year... Former major league catcher Jose Azcue threw out the first pitch of the night and chatted in the broadcast booth for an inning and a half during the game.
