Kansas City Acquires Three to Finalize Washington Trade

11/09/2011 8:35 AM -

The Kansas City T-Bones and manager Tim Doherty have announced the acquisitions of Justin Bass, Cody White and Scott Shaw  from the Gary SouthShore RailCats to complete an earlier trade between the teams.

Bass, 25, spent the 2011 season with the Winnipeg Goldeyes before being sent to Gary in a trade on Sept. 20, 2011. He batted .258/.334/.449 with 15 home runs and 53 RBI in 89 games for the Goldeyes. Bass was originally drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 19th round of the 2008 amateur draft.

White, 26, went 4-2 with a 4.05 ERA in 15 appearances, two starts, while allowing just 31 hits in 33 1/3 innings with the Fort Worth Cats in 2011. He was selected by Gary in the Fort Worth Dispersal Draft on Oct. 26, 2011. The left-hander was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 12th round of the 2003 amateur draft.

Shaw, 25, was 11-6 with a 5.49 ERA in 23 starts with Gary last year. The right-hander led the American Association in starts and finished in a third-place tie for wins. Shaw was originally drafted by the New York Mets in the 13th round of the 2008 amateur draft.

This completes the trade from Aug. 21, 2011, that sent veteran infielder Rico Washington to Gary.
