The American Association, which expanded to 14 teams prior to the 2011 season, posted the top attendance in independent baseball this season with a total of 2,162,269. That mark is an increase of more than 900,000 from the 2010 campaign.

It was the first time in American Association history that the league topped the 2 million mark, and comes after the addition of perennial attendance leaders in the Kansas City T-Bones and Winnipeg Goldeyes. The league now has three of the top draws in independent baseball in the T-Bones, Goldeyes and St. Paul Saints.

Independent league attendance standings:

  1. American Association (14) - 2,162,269
  2. Atlantic League (8) - 1,760,581*
  3. Frontier League (12) - 1,411,913
  4. Can-Am League - 627,113
  5. North American League - 634,880
*season ends September 18
