After each team collected a pair of runs in the 10th, T-Bones center fielder Aharon Eggleston connected for a two-run home run off P.J. Zocchi (0-2) in the 11th to give Kansas City (31-35) a 5-3 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs (31-35) on Saturday night at Haymarket Park.

The score sat at 1-1 as the teams entered extra innings following stellar outings by starters Kris Johnson and Tim Brown. Kansas City took the first lead of the game when Ray Sadler doubled off Brown to begin the second and later scored on a double-play groundout. The Saltdogs tied the contest at one against Johnson in the bottom of the frame on a solo home run by Pat Trettel, his second of the season.

Johnson allowed just the one run on five hits over eight innings while Brown held the T-Bones to one run on eight hits over seven frames. Neither factored into the decision.

Kansas City opened the 10th inning against Zocchi with a strikeout before Jimmy Mojica reached on a throwing error by Lincoln third baseman Curt Smith. Keanon Simon followed with a triple to plate Mojica and scored the second run of the frame on a sacrifice fly by Rico Washington, giving Kansas City a 3-1 advantage.

The triple was Simon’s 10th of the season, tying the franchise record set by Rick Prieto during the 2004 campaign.

After a perfect bottom of the ninth by Kyle Dahman, during which the right-hander struck out two of the three batters he faced, Andy Shipman (3-4) entered to begin the bottom of the 10th for the T-Bones. Shipman induced two quick outs before surrendering back-to-back home runs to Gavin Dickey and Phil Hawke that tied the game at three.

It marked the sixth blown save in 16 opportunities for Shipman this season.

Jim Fasano opened the top of the 11th with a walk for Kansas City and later came home on Eggleston’s fourth home run of the season. All four blasts have come at Haymarket Park. Shipman remained in the game and held the Saltdogs scoreless in the bottom half of the inning to secure the victory.

Eggleston was a double shy of the cycle in the contest, finishing three-for-five with two RBI. Simon was a home run shy after going three-for-four with an RBI. Sadler also collected three hits for Kansas City.

The two teams now prepare for the rubber match of their three-game weekend set on Sunday night as Kansas City sends Devin Anderson (5-6, 5.08) to the mound opposite Vince Bongiovanni (1-0, 0.00) and the Saltdogs.
