The Kansas City T-Bones (19-27) erased an early deficit with an eight-run third inning and held off the Wichita Wingnuts (25-22) in an 11-8 victory on Friday night in Wichita, KS.

After an RBI double by Rico Washington gave Kansas City a 1-0 lead against Justin Murray (3-3) in the top of the first, Wichita used two hits and a T-Bones error to score three runs off Reid Santos (5-3) for a 3-1 advantage in the bottom of the frame. Ryan Patterson added two additional runs with a home run in the second to make the score 5-1.

Kansas City sent 14 batters to the plate in the decisive third inning, collecting eight hits off Murray before chasing him from the contest. The first nine batters all reached safely, with a single from Kala Ka’aihue driving in the first two runs. Keanon Simon and Jeff Hulett (pictured) added consecutive two-run doubles later in the frame.

Murray was charged with nine runs on 10 hits in two and two-thirds innings in the loss.

Wichita picked up their final three runs in the bottom of the third to pull within one, 9-8. After a two-out single by Jose Duran, Santos retired 11 straight before surrendering a single to his final batter, Brent Clevlen, with one out in the seventh.

The left-hander allowed eight runs, six earned, on eight hits over six and one-thirds innings in the victory.

The T-Bones added single tallies in the fourth and sixth innings to push the final to 11-8. Steven Stewart took over for Santos in the seventh and retired each of the five batters he faced in the contest. Andy Shipman finished the game for Kansas City, earning his eighth save with a scoreless ninth.

Every T-Bones batter collected at least one hit while six of the nine posted multi-hit games. Six of the nine also drove in at least one run. Hulett finished three-for-four with two RBI to pace the effort.
