Johnson surrendered his final run on a solo home run by Henry Contreras in the fourth inning that pushed the score to 4-1. The left-hander struggled with his control on the day, surrendering six walks through six innings in the loss. Johnson was charged with four runs, two earned, on just four hits in the contest. Kansas City picked up their second run against Cowart in the fifth inning on an RBI single from Rico Washington. Cowart allowed just two runs on nine hits over six innings in the victory. The Pheasants picked up one run in the seventh against reliever Trent Lare and their final tally in the eighth off Kyle Dahman. Sadler singled to begin the eighth for Kansas City and later scored on an RBI groundout by Aharon Eggleston to wrap up the T-Bones scoring. Kansas City looks to salvage a split in the four-game series Thursday night as they send left-hander Devin Anderson (2-5, 5.44) to the mound opposite right-hander Brandon Rapoza (1-5, 5.44) and the Pheasants.
