The Kansas City T-Bones and manager Tim Doherty announced a flurry of moves on Friday, highlighted by the signings of Kala Ka’aihue and Prentice Redman.

Ka’aihue, younger brother of Kansas City Royals farmhand Kila Ka’aihue, joins the T-Bones after starting the 2011 season in the Colorado Rockies organization. He was originally drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 22nd round of the 2003 amateur draft but did not sign. He later joined the Atlanta Braves organization as a free agent, advancing as high as Double-A over his five years in their system. He has posed a .244/.366/.451 line with 91 career home runs over his first seven professional seasons.

Redman, younger brother of former major leaguer Tike Redman, began his professional career as a 10th-round selection of the New York Mets in the 1999 amateur draft. He made his major league debut with the Mets on August 24, 2003 and appeared in 15 games with New York that season. Over 13 minor league seasons, Prentice has a .279/.353/.448 career line with 150 home runs. He opened the 2011 season with Tabasco of the Mexican League, going seven-for-20 (.350) in six games with the Olmecas.

Kansas City has also signed infielder Jeff Hulett, a 12th round pick by the Houston Astros in the 2008 amateur draft. Hulett spent two seasons in the Houston system before splitting time between El Paso and Shreveport-Bossier in the American Association last year. Additionally, pitcher Martin Dewald comes to the T-Bones from River City of the Frontier League to complete a trade that sent Nick Farnsworth to the Rascals on June 4 earlier this season.

To make room on the roster, the T-Bones have released Dwayne White, Brian Joynt, Jonathan Jaspe, Cole Lohden, Ryan Hook, Mike Rocco and Alberto Espinosa.
