T-Bones Suffer Team Record Eighth Straight Loss

06/03/2011 8:13 PM -

Nick Singleton (6-0) remained perfect on the season for the Wichita Wingnuts (15-6) as the right-hander held the Kansas City T-Bones (7-14) to just four hits over eight scoreless innings in a 5-0 victory on Friday night. The loss pushes the T-Bones current losing streak to a team record eight games.

Singleton was brilliant for Wichita, allowing just three baserunners over his first five innings. The T-Bones pushed just two runners to second base in the contest, and had only seven men reach base in the game on four hits and three walks. Brandon Mathes threw a perfect ninth to finish the game for the Wingnuts.

Devin Anderson (2-2) held Wichita scoreless until an RBI double by Mike Conroy gave the Wingnuts a 1-0 lead in the fourth. Jorge Cortes made the score 2-0 with an RBI single in the fifth, and Wichita added another tally in the sixth to take a three-run lead.

Juan Richardson capped the scoring against Anderson with a solo home run in the seventh. Anderson left after seven innings having surrendered four runs on 13 hits in the loss.

Ryan Hook was charged with one run on one hit while getting a lone out for Kansas City in the eighth. Wade Morrison took over and got the final two outs without another run scoring to make the final 5-0.

Josh Horn finished the game four-for-four with a double and an RBI to pace Wichita. Kansas City pitchers surrendered 14 hits in the contest, the eighth straight game they have allowed 10 or more.

Kansas City looks to end the skid on Saturday night as they send T.J. Large (1-3, 5.63) to face Jonathan Ellis (0-1, 6.48) and the Wingnuts. First pitch is set for 7:05.
