The Kansas City T-Bones and manager Tim Doherty have announced that outfielder Dwayne White has been signed to a contract for the 2011 season.

White, 28, had a solid debut season with the T-Bones in 2010, hitting .313/.367/.539 with 15 home runs and 54 RBI in 81 games. The left-handed slugger also showed good discipline in his 284 at bats, striking out just 28 times while drawing 23 walks in that span.

“It’s good to have Dwayne back for 2011,” Doherty said. “He became an integral part of the team’s success in the middle of last season and gives us a quality left-handed bat in the middle of the lineup.”

White was acquired by Kansas City in a trade with San Angelo of the independent United League on February 22, 2010. He began his professional career with a three-year stint in the Minnesota Twins system from 2005-07 before spending the 2008 and 2009 seasons in the United League. His best season came with Laredo in 2008 when he batted .357/.432/.525 while drawing 43 walks and striking out only 30 times. During that season, White posted a 47 game on-base streak and collected multiple hits in 34 of his 87 contests.

The T-Bones have also come to terms with pitcher Grant Ledbetter. Kansas City currently has 15 players signed for 2011, a roster featuring nine pitchers and six position players.

The T-Bones begin their 2011 campaign against the El Paso Diablos in El Paso, TX on May 12 and will host the Gary SouthShore RailCats in their home opener on May 17.
