Santos Back in Fold for 2011 Campaign

The Kansas City T-Bones and manager Tim Doherty have announced the return of pitcher Reid Santos for the 2011 season.

Santos, 28, made 20 starts for the T-Bones in 2010, posting a 7-5 record with a 5.10 ERA in that span. The left-hander threw 113 innings for Kansas City, one of four hurlers to reach the 100-inning mark for the team last season. Santos allowed two earned runs or less in nine of his 20 outings, but settled for a no-decision in four of those starts. His best outing came against Joliet on August 5 when he surrendered just two runs on nine hits over eight innings, but did not factor into the decision in a game the T-Bones won 3-2.

Originally selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 13th round of the 2002 amateur draft, Santos spent six seasons in the Indians organization, advancing as high as Triple-A Buffalo in 2008. He then spent the 2009 season with Rochester, the Class AAA affiliate of the Minnesota Twins.

His best season came with Double-A Akron in 2007 where he went 8-2 with a 2.72 ERA in 96 innings, a span of 39 appearances, 10 starts.

Kansas City now has 12 players on their 2011 roster, which features five position players and seven pitchers.

The T-Bones begin their 2011 campaign in El Paso, TX on May 12 and will host the Gary SouthShore RailCats in their home opener on May 17.
