T-Bones Re-Sign Mojica, Add Two Pitchers

03/04/2011 10:05 AM -

The Kansas City T-Bones and manager Tim Doherty have announced three additions to their 2011 roster, including the return of shortstop Jimmy Mojica (pictured).

Mojica, 27, had a solid debut season for the T-Bones in 2010, hitting .281/.341/.416 with eight home runs and 43 RBI over 97 games. The Kansas City Kansas Community College product stole 24 bases during the regular season, the third highest single-season total in team history and good for fifth in the league in 2010. Mojica spent 2009 in the Seattle Mariners organization before signing with the T-Bones.

Kansas City also announced the addition of two pitchers for 2011, Drew Graham and Rusty Jones. Graham, 24, began his professional career as a nondrafted free agent with the Detroit Tigers in 2009. He joined the T-Bones out of open tryouts prior to last season and split the 2010 campaign between Kansas City and the Winnipeg Goldeyes. The Fort Scott, KS native appeared in 25 games with the T-Bones, striking out 27 batters in just 26 innings of work in that span. He then made nine appearances with the Goldeyes following an August 8 trade.

Jones, 27, enters his sixth season of professional baseball in 2011. A native of Shawnee, KS, Jones spent the 2010 season with the Chico Outlaws of the Golden Baseball League, posting a 2.95 ERA over 42 and two-thirds innings of relief. He began his career with Windy City of the Frontier League before moving to the United League for a two-year span.

The T-Bones begin their 2011 campaign in El Paso, TX on May 12 and will host the Gary SouthShore RailCats in their home opener on May 17.
