T-Bones Must Settle for 5-5 Tie vs. Joliet

05/28/2003 9:15 AM - (May 28, 2003) With two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning, the T-Bones had to settle for a 5-to-5 tie with the Joliet JackHammers this past Wednesday afternoon in the last of this three-game series, after a storm crept its way onto Joliet’s Silver Cross Field, forcing 3,554 fans – and both teams - home. As this was an official game, the stats will count, and the game will not be rescheduled.

Going into the final contest, both the T-Bones and JackHammers had one win against each other under their respective belts, and were gunning for a second. However, a storm delayed the game in the top of the third inning for one hour and thirty-five minutes, and later, finally forced officials to call it in the fifth.

Leading 1-to-0, the T-Bones rebounded from the long wait, with two more runs in the top of the third. Ray Brown had an RBI single that was followed by an Ehrnsberger RBI double. The T-Bones were in good shape, leading 3-to-0.

Although the JackHammers rebounded with three runs in the bottom of the third, the T-Bones answered right back, scoring a pair in the top of the fifth. After Joliet rallied back with two more runs, the storm went into full force, keeping the T-Bones from tasting one more victory against the JackHammers.

With two wins, three losses and one tie, the T-Bones next face the Gary Southshore Railcats and Lincoln Saltdogs before inaugurating CommunityAmerica Ballpark with their home opener the weekend of June 6th, 7th, and 8th, where they hope for blue skies and sunshine as they face Iowa’s Sioux City Explorers in a three-game series.
