Four Homers Power T-Bones to 7-4 Win

05/20/2004 2:30 PM - In baseball, it's not how, but how many. The Kansas City T-Bones proved that tonight with a 7-4 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs in front of 5,510 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Lincoln started off the scoring in the top of the first with a Jorge Moreno single that scored JuJu Foreman, who had singled, stolen second and moved to third on a throwing error.

Kansas City came right back with a solo shot by Jack Jones to tie things up, but Lincoln posted single runs in the second and third off T-Bones starter Jonathan Krysa.

Eddie Pearson got the T-Bones within one with another solo shot in the bottom of the fourth, and the T-Bones took a 4-3 lead in the fifth when Phil Thompson's two-run homer off Lincoln starter Mike Zipser plated Matt Ceriani.

Lincoln threatened in the bottom of the sixth, loading the bases with two outs against Krysa, but reliever Matt McClellan shut the door on the rally when he struck out Jorge Moreno. Cody Nowlin then extended the T-Bones' lead with a two-run homer off reliever Max Tremblay.

D.J. Johnson retired the last batter in the eighth and pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to earn his first save. In earning his first win, Krysa worked 5.2 IP, scattering 12 hits. Mike Zipser took the loss for the Saltdogs.

RHP Jayson Sigley of the T-Bones and LHP Thomas Ford of the Saltdogs will lock horns tomorrow night in a 7:05 pm contest at CommunityAmerica Ballpark, the second game of the four-game set. Come see Rockin' Ray and the Skyy Dogs and receive your 2004 magnet schedule!
