T-Bones Outslug Saltdogs, 14-4

05/16/2004 2:25 PM - The Kansas City T-Bones got off to a hot start at Lincoln's Haymarket Park Sunday night, pounding out 9 runs in the first 2 innings, en route to a 14-4 victory.

The T-Bones 9 runs came off Lincoln's Danny Miller, who lasted just 1 1/3 innings. 3 of those runs came in the 1st frame, when catcher Chad Shindle parked a Miller offering over the left field wall. Kansas City added 6 more runs on five hits, 3 walks, and 1 hit-by-pitch.

Lincoln responded with a ruin the first, and added 3 more in the 3rd. Josh Patton drove in 2cruns with a double in the third, making the score 9-4. It would be the final runs Lincoln would score, as Kansas City's relievers (Grunwald, Felkel, Marcus and Rosengren) pitched 5 scoreless innings.

Kansas City added a run in the 7th, and Scott Dierks completed the scoring with a 2-run home run in the 8th.

The T-Bones rapped out 15 hits on the night, led by six players (Prieto, Hill, Shindle, Nowlin, Thompson and Dierks) with two hits apiece. Dierks paced Kansas City with four RBI. Both JuJu Foreman and D.J. Rengifo had two hits for Lincoln, while Patton led the Saltdogs with 2 RBI.

Sigley allowed 4 earned runs in 4 innings to pick up the win, while Miller received the loss after his tough outing.

Sunday's affair was the final exhibition contest of the 2004 season for both clubs. The pair is scheduled to next meet in their 2004 regular season opener on Thursday, May 20th, in Kansas City.
