12/01/2009 9:10 AM -

The Kansas City T-Bones and manager Tim Doherty have announced the signing of infielder Jimmy Mojica for the 2010 season.

Mojica, 26, began the 2009 season with the Pensacola Pelicans of the independent American Association before having his contract purchased by the Seattle Mariners on June 27, 2009.  Before his departure, Mojica was fifth in the league with a .354 average and tied for second with 15 stolen bases in 33 games.  He finished the season at Double-A West Tennessee.

“This is a fantastic signing for the T-Bones,” said Doherty.  “Jimmy was highly sought after this offseason and we’re happy to bring a local talent back to Kansas City.”

A product of Kansas City Kansas Community College, Mojica was named Freshman of the Year with the Blue Devils in 2004.  He began his professional career in 2006 with St. Joe of the American Association before spending the 2007 season in the Milwaukee Brewers organization.

The T-Bones begin their 2010 campaign in Gary, Ind. on May 20 and will host the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in their home opener on May 28.  Season ticket packages and mini plans are available now by calling 913-328-5618.  For information on group outings, call 913-328-5628.  Single game tickets will go on sale in 2010.  Visit www.tbonesbaseball.com to stay up-to-date throughout the year.
