Eric Marshall, AGM

On November 14, 2008, Eric Marshall was promoted to Assistant GM to become just the second AGM in the Kansas City T-Bones history.

“Marsh” joined the T-Bones in January 2006 as an intern in the tickets department before moving to group sales over the summer.  Following that season, he was named Sales Coordinator, a position he held until the start of the 2007 campaign when he was promoted to Director of Corporate Partnerships.  He added the management of group sales to his responsibilities after the departure of Brandon Smith prior to the T-Bones 2008 championship season.

We recently caught up with Marsh to see how his first season as AGM went.

To the point, how was your first season as AGM?

Overall I would say it was very fun and educational.  I enjoyed learning more about the business side of the game while still having a large focus on the sales aspect.  Working more closely with Chris Browne (GM) enabled me to learn from someone with an extensive background in the game.

What is your favorite memory since you joined the T-Bones in 2006?

I’d have to say I’ve had the opportunity to work with some great and talented co-workers and have made some close friends over the years as well.

Additionally, winning the championship in 2008 was the pinnacle of my T-Bones experience thus far.

What advice do you have for our future interns or others looking to secure a job in baseball?

This business is a very tough one to get your foot in the door, so getting an early jump on securing an internship is essential.  Being an intern will give you the opportunity to get a brief overview into the business, while having the chance to build a network for future employment possibilities.
