T-Bones Deliver School Supplies to CIS

08/15/2009 10:43 AM -

The Kansas City T-Bones held Back-to-School Night on August 1 to help collect school supplies for underprivileged kids in Wyandotte County.  The supplies collected were recently donated to Communities in Schools of KCK/Wyandotte County (CIS) for its Back-to-School Fair.  Fans who brought unopened school supplies received a half-price KCI High-Fly Zone Bleacher Reserved ticket.

CIS, formerly Kansas City, Kansas School Linked Services, Inc. (SLS), is a nonprofit organization partnering with the Kansas City Public Schools to help students and families overcome difficulties in order to improve classroom success.  With the Back-to-School Fair, CIS works with more than 15 community agencies and the Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools to provide school supplies and community resources to more than 3,000 Wyandotte County children and their families.

CIS also puts on the following programs in the area:
- Adopt-a-School and After-School Enhancement Grant
- After school tutoring
- Child Abuse Prevention Community Fair
- Children’s Emergency Dental Fund
- Communities Empowering Youth
- Early-Release Wednesday Program
- F.A.S.T. (Families and Schools Together)
- Kansas City, Kansas Community College tutors
