Eggleston, T-Bones Salvage Split in Grand Fashion

08/06/2009 10:15 PM -

Aharon Eggleston homered to begin the game for the Kansas City T-Bones (33-41) tonight, setting the pace as they salvaged a series split in a four-game set with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (39-32), 8-4, at Newman Outdoor Field.

After Eggleston’s game-opening blast off Broc Coffman (8-5), Craig Hurba drove in the T-Bones’ second run with a single and was followed by a sacrifice fly from Neb Brown.  Jeff Helps capped off a four-run first inning with an RBI single as Kansas City supplied starter Derek Duclos (1-3) with an early cushion.

Fargo plated their first run off Duclos in the second on a sacrifice fly by Carlo Cota.  Kansas City quickly answered with their final four runs on the night in the third, all coming on Eggleston’s second home run of the game.  After a single and two walks loaded the bases with two outs, Eggleston connected for a grand slam to give the T-Bones an 8-1 advantage.  The centerfielder extended his on-base streak to 33 games tonight with his first-inning blast and doubled his season home run total in the game, finishing three-for-five with a double, two home runs and five RBI.

Coffman left after six innings having allowed eight runs on eight hits in the loss.

The RedHawks picked up their second run of the game on an RBI double by Ruben Salazar in the fifth.  After a perfect sixth, Duclos surrendered a double to begin the seventh before inducing flyouts to his final two batters.  Weston Curles relieved the right-hander and hit the first batter he faced before surrendering an RBI single to Salazar.

Duclos earned his first win as a T-Bone after allowing three runs on six hits over five and two-thirds innings.

Cody McAllister entered for Curles to start the eighth and threw the final two innings for Kansas City.  Fargo plated their final run off the right-hander in the eighth on an RBI double by Cota.  Salazar and Cota each finished with two RBI to pace the RedHawks.

After going 0-for-12 following a second-inning home run in game one of the series, Hurba finished three-for-five with an RBI in the victory.

Kansas City heads home to prepare for a five-game series against the second-place Gary SouthShore RailCats tomorrow night.  Dustin Bolton (4-4, 4.95) will take the mound in game one opposite Derell McCall (3-0, 2.76) and Gary.  First pitch is set for 7:05.  Tomorrow is College Rivalry Night where any fan that wears the colors of their favorite team will receive half-price KCI High-Fly Zone Bleacher Reserved tickets.  Also, all small domestic draft beers are just $3.  Call 913-328-5618 or visit www.tbonesbaseball.com for more information and to reserve your seats today!
