Left-hander Ryan Knippschild (2-1) threw seven strong innings for Kansas City (18-20) as the T-Bones finished a three-game sweep of the Schaumburg Flyers (19-19) with a 10-4 victory this afternoon at Alexian Field in Schaumburg, Illinois.

The Flyers touched Knippschild for one unearned run in the first inning on two hits and an error.  Travis Ezi started the inning with a single and advanced to second on an infield hit by Jose Valdez.  On the play, Ezi reached third when Fasano threw wide of first in an effort to get Valdez.  A sacrifice fly by Vince Harrison plated the run.

Victor Ferrante hit a solo home run to begin the fourth to cap the scoring against Knippschild.  The University of Kansas product allowed just two runs, one earned, on seven hits over seven innings in the victory.

Kansas City picked up their first run against Carmen Pignatiello (3-3) on a solo shot by Greg Jacobs in the first inning.  Two innings later, the T-Bones collected five runs, two earned, on three hits and two errors against the Schaumburg left-hander to take a 6-1 lead.  Aharon Eggleston drove in the first run with an RBI single, plating Jacob Blackwood who reached on an error.  After consecutive RBI singles by Jacobs and Craig Hurba, left fielder Jeff Dunbar dropped a flyball from Jim Fasano that allowed the final two runs to score.

Another Flyers error gave Kansas City a 7-1 advantage in the top of the fourth when Mark Minicozzi reached on a muffed catch by Dunbar and scored on a double by Blackwood.  Minicozzi capped off the T-Bones scoring with a three-run blast in the fifth to put the T-Bones up 10-2.

Pignatiello allowed 10 runs, six earned, on eight hits over seven innings in the loss.

Daniel Sattler threw a scoreless eighth in relief of Knippschild before giving way to Nate Cotton.  Cotton walked the first batter he faced in the ninth before surrendering a home run to Craig Maddox for the Flyers final two runs of the contest.  The two runs were the first Cotton had allowed since joining Kansas City.  He finished the inning with no further damage.

Kansas City now heads to Joliet for a four-game set with the JackHammers starting tomorrow night.  Luis Villarreal (1-2, 2.86) is scheduled to take the hill for the T-Bones against Ryan Gehring (2-2, 3.65) and Joliet in game one.  First pitch is set for 7:05.
